General Manager/Production Manager

We have an exceptional opportunity to join our growing global team in the role of General / Production / Operations Manager,  at our Salt Lake City site.


The Role


Reporting to the Director (US), you will initially run the production/SMT line to produce and deliver products to our established client which meet quality standards, within budget and on time.


Going forward, you will be responsible for building and developing your own team and as production grows, you will spend your time supervising staff, monitoring budgets and overseeing operations while acting as the bridge between corporate leadership and production teams. You will engage directly with production processes, personnel, and equipment at all times to ensure smooth operations. You will set high standards of conduct and performance and act as an exemplar to the teams you will lead. 


Primary Responsibilities:


Leadership

· Hire, build and retain a strong team, with corporate oversight and approval

· Train and develop production staff on both operational best practices and hands-on machine usage

· Motivate the team to ensure production targets are consistently met

· Manage individual and team performance, using appropriate HR processes when necessary


Operational

· Oversee daily business activities, ensuring production goals are met weekly, quarterly, and annually

· Use time and motion principles to support quoting and manload/machine load to support schedules

· Machine programming & troubleshooting, by quickly learning and executing unique machine programming as required

· Provide assistance in machine repairs, calibration, and preventative maintenance as needed

· Provide financial oversight by monitoring costs, analyzing financial data, and generating regular and ad hoc reports for corporate leadership

· Ensure that all processes are designed, communicated and performed with established industry health and safety standards at their core


Strategic

· Develop and execute strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and profitability

· Manage resources by allocating budgets, staff, and materials to meet operational demands while staying within budget constraints and scheduling work to maximize efficiency

· Identify and implement improvements in workflow, machine efficiency, and production methodologies


About You


You will:  

  • Have a practical/hands-on attitude, be willing to get involved in the day-to-day operations by bringing their mechanical skills, working knowledge of production machinery and other relevant previous experience to the role 
  • Be comfortable engaging directly with both personnel and equipment to maintain productivity, quality, and efficiency standards 
  • Understand how to program specialized machines, and be mechanically competent to assist with repairs, calibration, and troubleshooting when needed 
  • Have the ability to quickly learn and execute machine programming, optimize workflows, and provide effective on-the-job training to staff 
  • Possess strong leadership skills including sound personal ethics, integrity, and the ability to foster accountability and trust within the team 
  • Be able to build a team and work collaboratively 
  • Be self-motivated and results-driven with examples of previous relevant achievements 
  • Possess a solid understanding of both business strategy and the technical aspects of manufacturing operations 
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills (Spanish proficiency is a plus) 
  • Be highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills and a solid work ethic


Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


Required:  

  • General / Production / Operations Manager experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting 
  • Basic electronics industry knowledge and experience preferred
  • A demonstrable mechanical aptitude/ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues with production machinery
  • Machine operating and programming experience with demonstrable quick learning ability to apply it to specialized machinery
  • Familiarity with ISO-9001 helpful
  • Sound IT skills including proficiency in business software, machine interfaces, and production tracking systems


Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Engineering, or a related field 
  • Granular knowledge of components and electrical knowledge
  • Knowledge of IPC-610 specifications related to contract manufacturing is strongly preferred. IPC-610A/ISO-9001/J-STD-001 proficiency

Going forward, this role has scope for genuine career development. As production grows and you bring more lines to life, you’ll be able to build, develop and supervise your own team. You will spend your time overseeing operations while acting as the bridge between leadership and the production team. You will set high standards of conduct and performance and act as an exemplar to the teams you will lead. 


You will:
